Due to Covid-19 safety measures put in place to make LMS Advisory a CovidSafe business; in-office appointments will be extremely limited until January 2021 at the earliest. To maintain a personal connection with our clients, we have implemented new technologies which will enable you to discuss your tax affairs via Zoom teleconference or phone consultation with your accountant, either in advance or post-completion of your returns. In most cases, the entire return process can be managed remotely without you needing to attend the office. Lodging your tax return should be straightforward and not take up too much of your precious time. We try to simplify the process as much as possible.

Your 2020 Income will be reported by your employer to the ATO via Single Touch Payroll in most cases. This is known as your Income Statement and replaces PAYG Payment Summaries or Group Certificates.

As your registered Tax Agent, we have access to your income statement via the Tax Agent Portal and will be able to verify when it is finalised and ready for tax return preparation. https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Single-Touch-Payroll/Single-Touch-Payroll-for-employees/Accessing-your-income-statement-online/

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) recognises that the community has experienced significant challenges this year. The ATO’s support and guidance should make tax time easier, particularly where new circumstances mean that people are receiving a different type of income or able to claim new deductions.

Assistant Commissioner Karen Foat said the ATO has a range of different approaches to support taxpayers and the community through this tax time.
