This Part-Time role is designed for a university student studying with a Major in Accounting or final-year student eager to gain practical experience while working closely with experienced professionals in a dynamic office environment.
About the Role
As a Cadet Accountant, you’ll gain exposure to a variety of tasks, including:
- Preparing tax returns, GST Returns, BAS, FBT, and financial statements for individuals, sole traders, companies, partnerships, and trusts.
- Reconciling and adjusting clients financial records and financial accounts in MYOB, Xero and Quickbooks.
- Liaising with the ATO, ASIC, Revenue NSW, and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.
- Assisting the senior accounting team with client queries and high-level tax planning and structuring for multi-entity groups
- Supporting the team in preparing ATO audit responses, due diligence reports, and tax research.
- High level training in bookkeeping and cloud accounting – Essential skills for an accountant in 2025
- Incorporating the latest tools and technologies into existing processes
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- Studying a Bachelor of Accounting degree (or be in your final year of study)
- A strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and the ability to review your own work.
- Proficiency in Excel
- Exposure to accounting software like Xero, MYOB AccountRight preferred but not essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- A genuine interest in pursuing CPA qualifications and building a career in accounting.
- Able to work in a team environment and independently on given tasks
Prior accounting experience is advantageous but not essential.
